Simon Chapman and Di Harris have been elected by NUJ members in the South West to represent them on the NEC, the union’s ruling body.
Simon and Di, who were standing as a jobshare, won the post with 152 votes, against 121 given to their rival Christina Zaba.
Out of 1,201 eligible voters, 273 voted – a turnout of 22.7 per cent in the postal poll supervised by Electoral Reform Services.
Congratulations to Simon and Di, and commiserations to Christina. All were worthy candidates.
Simon and Di will now attend meetings of the NUJ National Executive Council and will represent the views of members across the South West.
Christina sends her thanks to all her supporters, especially local members who wrote her endorsements, some of which says she had no chance to include in her canvassing statement.
