Bristol is to be one of three main Northcliffe newspaper centres across the UK to appoint a new publisher, it has been announced.
Bristol, Hull and Nottingham will each appoint a publisher, a new role which replaces the positions of regional editor and MD, although it is reported that no-one is likely to lose their job.
The group’s new Managing Director Steve Auckland said the restructure is “the first phase of a long-term strategy to improve the performance of Northcliffe Media”.
The editors in Bristol and the other centres will now report directly to their new publisher, who will have full profit-and-loss responsibility for the business, including the publishing model, pricing structure and staffing for their centres.
The positions will be advertised nationally, and changes will be phased in over the next few months.
